Bookmarklet
Check a quote from any web page without copying the original over by hand. The bookmarklet is a bookmark that starts a new check with the text you’ve selected on the page.
Set it up
Drag the button above to your browser’s bookmarks bar. If you don’t see the bar, show it from your browser’s View or Bookmarks menu.
Use it
- On the page you’re quoting from, select the passage your quote comes from. Select a little more than you quote, so nothing at the edges gets lost.
- Click Check a quote in your bookmarks bar. Quote Checker opens in a new tab, with the passage as the original and the page’s address as its source.
- Paste your quote, and see what the check finds.
The bookmarklet only does something when you click it, and it only sends the selected text and the page’s address. Nothing is saved until you save the check yourself. It works in desktop browsers; mobile browsers make bookmarklets hard to use.
